Biography
EN: Neundorf, located near the city of St. Vith in east Belgium, isn’t really a Mecca for musicians. In fact it is an uninspiring one-horse town really. Nevertheless some guys from Belgium and Luxembourg see in it the hub of their musical universe. „Some Kind of Rock“ is the name of the project born in January 2009. The name says it all, it’s five people not wanting to be too much constrained by certain rules when writing songs. The band members come from very different musical backgrounds which they try to blend into an individual style. „In your face“-guitar riffs meeting catchy melodies and straight rock mixing with more progressive elements, that’s the panache called S.K.O.R. The band wants to transmit energies all by uncovering the feelings of their listeners at the same time. Right now they are working on their first album which shall be realeased soon. ******************************************************************************************** FR: Neundorf, situé à proximité de St. Vith, n’est pas vraiment un lieu de pélérinage pour le monde de la musique. Le petit village germanophone belge, plutôt endormi, ne paraît pas – au premier abord – très captivant. Pourtant, pour quelques musiciens luxembourgeois et belges, il est devenu le centre de leur univers musical. «Some Kind Of Rock», une certaine sorte de rock, est le nom du projet créé en janvier 2009, un heureux amalgame de plusieurs styles de musique. Comme le nom l’indique, les cinq membres ne veulent pas soumettre leur musique à trop de restrictions. Chaque membre ayant ses propres racines et ses propres préférences musicales, le groupe tente de rapprocher les différents goûts et de former un nouveau style. Des riffs ciselants rencontrent des mélodies claires et du straight rock se mélange à des éléments progressifs, tout ça c’est le mix S.K.O.R. Le groupe a une mission: transmettre de l’énergie et créer des émotions chez les auditeurs. En ce moment S.K.O.R. est en train de préparer un premier album qui sera diffusé en 2010. ******************************************************************************************** DE: Neundorf, nahe der ostbelgischen Stadt St. Vith, ist alles andere als ein Mekka für Musiker. Eine kleine verschlafene Ortschaft, die auf niemanden wirklich inspirierend wirkt. Trotzdem ist es für einige Musiker aus Luxemburg und Belgien der Nabel der Welt. „Some Kind Of Rock“ nennt sich das im Januar 2009 gegründete Projekt, ein musikalischer Melting Pot. Der Name ist Programm, denn man möchte sich beim Songwriting nicht auf einen bestimmten Stil festlegen. S.K.O.R. das ist alternative, heavy und mainstream Rock und gleichzeitig wieder das genaue Gegenteil. Die Band will nicht so recht in eine einzige Schublade passen und genau darauf legt sie es auch an. Die musikalischen Einflüsse der fünf Mitglieder könnten unterschiedlicher nicht sein und auf dieser Grundlage versuchen sie ihren ganz eigenständigen Stil zu entwickeln: Some Kind Of Rock. Die Musik soll verschiedene Spielarten des Rock miteinander verschmelzen lassen. Fette Riffs treffen auf eingängige Melodien und geradliniger Rock auf verspieltere, teils progressive, Passagen. S.K.O.R. wollen Energien übermitteln und die Gefühle ihrer Zuhörer ansprechen, seien es ihre „positiven Aggressionen“ oder ihre Melancholie. Zurzeit arbeitet die Band an ihrem Debutalbum, das in diesem Jahr veröffentlicht werden soll.
